Pace High Color Guard

tatum.jpg
The award winning Pace High School Color Guards are under the direction of Rebecca Belveal, with assistance from Rachel Belveal, Hannah Denaro, Christopher Mills, Leo Finuliar, and visual design by Randy Nelson.  All color guard students are enrolled in the school color guard class, which currently meets during 3rd period each day.  In this class, students will learn and demonstrate an understanding of basic to advanced dance/movement, equipment (includes rifle, flag, and sabre), and performance techniques.

During the summer and fall, all students in the color guard program perform as members of the "Pride of the Red, White, and Blue" visual ensemble.  Combined with the winds and percussion, color guard members execute equipment and movement choreography that enhances the overall visual aspect of the marching band show.
At the conclusion of the fall marching band season, color guard members have the option to participate in our Varsity or Cadet Winter Guard ensembles.  Members of both of these ensembles continue to hone their performance skills through competing in the local Gulf Coast Color Guard and Percussion Circuit from January to April.  At the conclusion of the circuit competition season, the Varsity Winter Guard ensemble travels to Dayton, OH to compete at the Winter Guard International World Color Guard Championships.  Additional trips and competitions vary from year to year.

Auditions are typically held in May for the upcoming school year.  Any current or rising Pace High School student with an interest is invited to audition.  Technique in dance, flag, rifle, and sabre work can be taught to anyone with a desire to perform!

Any questions regarding the Pace High School Color Guard program should be directed to a Band Director or Mrs. Rebecca Belveal.
