We're excited to see everyone back in school this upcoming week!
Additionally, please know that once school starts, students receive a weekly grade for their attendance and participation at our after-school rehearsals & performances throughout the school year. When there is an absence, we do need a note/email from a parent or guardian - preferably ahead of time, if possible. This includes potential conflicts with other sports, clubs, etc.
You are welcome to send this email to pacehsbands@gmail.com.
This policy is covered in our Band Handbook, and is reiterated on the class syllabus students will receive on Thursday. Thank you for your assistance!
Schedule for 8/7 - 8/11
Tuesday - Band Handbook Contracts are DUE; Hair Braiding Clinic: 5:00p**; FULL Rehearsal, 6:00-9:00p; ALSO TUESDAY - Freshman Day Pep Rally Performance*, call time is 2:00p in band room (Wear your 2023 Band t-shirt!)
*All 10-12 grade Winds & Percussion are required to be in attendance for the Pep Rally. It should be completed by 3:30p.
Freshmen are not expected to perform with the Band, but are encouraged to join us for this performance! You will have more fun if you do!
**ALL Winds/Percussion students with long hair need to french braid their hair for all football game performances. If your student has long hair, please have your student present at 5:00p for our clinic, regardless if they "think" they know how to do this already. Thank you!
Thursday – First Day of School!; FULL Rehearsal, 6:00p-9:00p
Friday – Patriot Night Football Game this Friday - call time is 4:15pm in the Band Room. **YES WE ARE PERFORMING THE HALFTIME SHOW**
Students should be in the same outfits they wore to the Preview Performance: 2023 Band Shirt, Athletic Shoes, Khaki Shorts (Black Leggings for Guard), with long hair pulled back, and no hats (sunglasses are OK). It is extremely important for students to bring a large, wide-mouth gallon water jug with them to the game, pre-filled with water. Our volunteer parents are amazing, but they are not responsible to pre-fill water jugs for the students, and there will not be cups/bottles available to the students during the game. Students are welcome to bring their water jugs with them to the school on Friday and fill them while at the school, before their call time. Plan ahead!
Football Game etiquette for Band members: Our Band is there to support the football team & cheerleaders and perform at the game. These games are our most "visible" performances throughout the entire school year; not just the halftime show, but the whole night! At all times, they are "on the clock" & ambassadors to Pace High School. Please understand that they are not allowed to be on their cell phones, visit with their friends/family, or eat anything while at the game. Please assist us with this by making sure they eat something BEFORE arriving for their designated call time. Thank you for understanding!
