Hello 2024-2025 Pace High School Band Parents & Students!
We wanted to send out a quick reminder about our upcoming June Camp, aka “JAMP”, from
Monday June 3th - Friday June 7th . This June Camp does not include any color guard
members, but is for ALL New & Returning Brass, Woodwind, and Percussion students! On the
first day, all students should meet in the band hall (we will have signs & students out front
directing our new students to the band hall). We will have important announcements for all
students before we begin, so please plan accordingly. Some tips and reminders for ALL
students are listed below:
●
DATES: JAMP is June 3rd - June 7th . Brass, Woodwinds & Percussion are from
3:00-9:00p. Arrive EARLY and meet in the band hall. “To be EARLY, is to be ON TIME.”
● DRESS: We will be outside , in the sun, for the majority of the afternoon/evening. Wear
warm-weather athletic clothing (school appropriate), supportive undergarments, & tennis
shoes/socks. A hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and deodorant are highly recommended.
Helpful Tip- Bringing a change of clothes for after dinner would be a smart idea as well…
unless you enjoy wearing smelly clothing all day.
●
WHAT TO BRING: Instrument (unless we provide it), large mouth water jug prefilled
with ice water, pencils, 3 ring binder and sheet protectors (to store music), and a large
beach towel (you will want to sit on this, rather than the concrete or grass… trust us).
● Eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before you arrive! Fruit, salads,
sandwiches, and any other light food is the most ideal here! Avoid dairy!
●
DINNER BREAK - No student will be permitted to leave campus. Parents may drop off
a dinner for a student, but should not plan on staying. Dinner break for these students
will be from 5:30-6:15p in the cafeteria each day.
●
PARENT DROP OFF/PICK UP: Please avoid using the front bus loop for drop off and
pick up. It quickly becomes congested and has caused multiple issues in the past. Plan
on dropping off/picking up your child in just about ANY other lot at the front or back of the
school. To reduce the number of people on campus at any given time, parents are
strongly encouraged to stay in their vehicle when picking up their child.
●
ABSENCES: A director or staff member will need to be notified of any absence as early
as possible. Your student will need to catch up with a leadership & staff member on any
information that was missed. Please understand that being tired, sunburnt, or sore is not
an excusable absence. You may email us at pacehsbands@gmail.com
● MEDICAL PAPERWORK: In order to keep your child safe, please make every effort to
submit the Band Health Form and the Over the Counter Medication Permission Form
ASAP, in addition to the Student Contract. Many of you have already turned these in, so
Thank You! Hard copies of these forms are in the band room, and electronic copies can
be found HERE .
● Tips on how to prepare for all of our summer band rehearsals can be found in our Band
Camp Survival Guide (attached to this email), and by watching the following video:
Preparing for Summer Band Camp Video
Additionally, students are encouraged to participate in our Spirit Days , themed for the June
Camp week:
Monday - Section Colors 🥳🌈
Leadership: Orange
Flutes & Clarinets: Purple
Saxophones: Pink
Trumpets & Mellophone/French Horns: Yellow
Trombones, Baritones, & Tubas: Red
Percussion: Green
Tuesday - Tropical 🌺
Wednesday - Wacky Hats/Socks 🎩 🧦
Thursday - ‘Murica 🔴 ⚪ 🔵
Friday - Fandom Friday (Sports Team, Hello Kitty, Bluey, Disney, etc.) ⚽️ 🐈 🐶 🏰
***Friday will also have a Booster Meeting & info for the upcoming Fall Trip at
6:00p, followed by our JAMP showoff at 7:00p***
Note: Be mindful of what you wear for your athletic clothing to fit the themed days, as it will be
hot, we will be outside, and you will be physically active, so please- no actual costumes, or you'll
be asked to go home and change 🙂
FINALLY - Parents, support and encourage your child as much as possible. The first few
days of camp are hard on everyone, so push them to stick with it! This is a new
experience for a lot of students and learning to persevere through tough experiences is
worthwhile to their growth in the high school environment.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask. If you know of someone
who may not have received this email, PLEASE SHARE with them! We look forward to seeing
everyone on Monday! Have a great weekend!
